The Pacific Crest Trail and the Donner Ski Ranch Connection

The Pacific Crest Trail is 2653 miles long, from Mexico to Canada. The PCT crosses Old Highway 40 at mile 1152, 0.2 miles away from Donner Ski Ranch.

DSR hosts Pacific Crest Trail hikers from all over the world every summer, and we are more than happy to welcome them with food and drinks!

Keeping with tradition, all thru hikers can claim a 40oz beer. Commonly known as the 40 on 40.

Must be 21+ with a valid ID and show your PCT thru-hiker permit. Please drink responsibly.


Hiker Services

Donner Ski Ranch offers beds, showers, and laundry to any PCT thru-hiker.

A bed in a shared co-ed room, access to the restroom/shower.

Laundry is included (washer and dryer available, laundry detergent included)

Amenities include kitchen appliances such as a microwave, toaster, stove, and oven, as well as pots, pans, plates, cups, and silverware. Personal hygiene items include items like shampoo, body wash, and towels.


Distance to Truckee, CA

We are approximately 10 miles from Truckee, CA. The easiest way to get there is via Uber or Lyft.

DSR will hold packages for free from PCT hikers who send them via UPS or FEDEX.

Packages must include the PCT hikers' full name, "PCT HIKER," and ETA on the package.

DSR is not responsible for lost or damaged packages.

DSR does not return packages that arrive too late for pickup.

DSR does not track packages sent via USPS because the Postal Service does not deliver to our lodge's address.

DSR will not store packages left after the hiking season ends; it will donate any unclaimed packages.
