Why Ski Here?
Donner Ski Ranch isn't fancy. If you're looking for glitz and glamour, we're not for you. So, what do we offer? Fun, value, and an all-around good vibe. Sure, we have excellent terrain, great snow, and short lift lines, but what makes Donner Ski Ranch special is the people. We love skiing and we love this place. The reason people come back time and time again is simple -- it feels good here. We revel in teaching people to ski, watching kids grin ear to ear as they make their first turns, fresh powder stashes and face shots, untracked snow, bluebird days, and apres ski at the Summit's most fantastic dive bar, right here in our main lodge.
We offer more than 500 acres of varied terrain, 6 chairlifts, and 2 moving carpets, so there's something for everyone at Donner Ski Ranch. And, with daily ticket, season pass, and package pricing up to 75% less than other resorts, and close, free parking, Donner Ski Ranch is the #1 destination for family fun.
The Mountain
Among the oldest and most iconic ski areas in the Western U.S., Donner Ski Ranch is a family-friendly resort that features a wide variety of terrain, inviting skiers and riders of all abilities to enjoy the fully-featured mountain oasis.
Donner Ski Ranch is much larger than people realize. The view from the front is just the beginning. The mountain boasts more than 1,000 feet of vertical and an expansive backside, making it the second-largest ski resort on Donner Summit. And, with one of the highest base elevations in the Sierras, Donner Ski Ranch gets some of the best powder. Combine this with our aggressive high-mountain and backside terrain, and Donner Ski Ranch is the perfect destination for advanced skiers and riders who want to escape the crowds and enjoy untouched lines.
For beginner and intermediate skiers, Donner Ski Ranch offers easy access to novice runs, private ski/snowboard lessons, equipment rentals, a retail shop, and a tubing park that’s great for kids of all ages.
Main Lodge
The Donner Ski Ranch Lodge is a classic, rustic mountain lodge built primarily of wood in 1947, exuding old-school ski charm with exposed pipes, vintage decor, and a genuine, welcoming ambiance. Its design embodies the ski culture of the mid-20th century, offering guests a glimpse into Sierra history with its original architecture and nostalgic interior touches. Over the decades, it has been thoughtfully renovated, preserving its historic character while enhancing comfort for today’s guests.
Inside, visitors find a cozy space for warming up, dining, and relaxing après-ski. The lodge includes a large fireplace, comfortable seating, and windows overlooking the slopes, making it the central spot for gathering with friends or family. Classic lodge features, such as its spacious wrap-around deck and genuine mountain atmosphere, set it apart from modern, high-gloss ski resorts, offering an experience rooted in authenticity and local tradition.
